Did life as a JW turn you into an alcoholic?
by hamsterbait ini certainly blamed my drink problem at first on the frustrations and blah blah blah of the life as a jw.
if you had a drink problem as a jw what caused yours.
does leaving aid recovery?

Do not think for one moment that your children have probably not already noticed a change in your attitude. They will notice before anyone else.
When I read this statement in this old thread, it struck home with me.
1) I cuss more, my favorite saying is when someone does something stupid, I call them "dumn ass".
2) The Elders wanted to talk to me about something I said;" You have talked to me twice this year about things that were not true, I am done being talked to." One Elder said, That did not go as I expected".

Latest stage
by thedog1 ini've posted on and off here over the past year, but not much recently.
anyone who read my previous posts will know that i started learning all sorts of surprising things about jehovah's witnesses about a year or so ago, well, surprising to me anyway.
i feel very sad now as it is getting harder and harder to go to meetings.

I know how you feel, my life mirrors your's in many ways.
Just had a longtime Elder friend stay with us for 4 days and finally had a Spiritual talk about things and changes over the years. I mentioned one thing that bothered me was the statements about the GT could begin at any moment and even how the "Awake" magazine on the inside cover stated that it would come before those "that saw the events of 1914 pass away". He said he "never read that". I had no bound volumes to back up my statement. Then yesterday, I went to the Hall and someone turned in some old bound volumes to be given out. The 1994 Awake volume had the statement. I took a picture of it, sent it to him, now waiting for a reply.

Warwick Building Project Fluff Stories
by bruh2012 intalking about an article that makes you want to throw-up in your mouth- wt-study jan 15, 2015 the offered themselves willingly.. amazing the psych job of selling your business, moving your entire family, quiting your job to be a "temporary" worker at the new world headquarters!.
throw your livelyhood away only to get the "feeling" that jehovahs is blessing you!
i wish there was away to track the psych job during patterson and other major projects of what happened to all the "friends" that sold and got rid of their livelyhood then and where are they now.. did you ever sacrifce it all for a building project only to be left with nothing after your "spiritual high"?.

Now that I think about it, I certainly did use alot of my personal funds on these building projects. 15 years as a dept. head, monthly having to travel great distantinces, stay several days at your own expense, then going to other states for relief work, MY GOD, I Spent alot of my own money for this and where is my reward????

my first post! (long read sorry in advance)
by Letts Party inlong time lurker, first time poster here finally looking to get some things off my chest.
i've always been a very curious person with tons of questions about everything, and i also care deeply particularly about societal issues like social injustice, racism, and homophobia.
that, coupled with how boneheaded all the elders in my congregation are (except for one), led me to ask even more questions that led me to find ttatt.. .

You just never know how many are interested in your story!
Great post, nothing to fear here. With a pioneer wife, I would think that you would been appointed to serve by now.
Even though I am still in, my mind drifts in and out during all the meetings. I am thankful that they have wifi at the hall so I can check my email, surf the web, etc.

Posters do you know of any cases where a devout JW was DF'd for Lesbianism?
by booker-t ini think this is a hush hush topic among jws but i remember years ago at an assembly i saw two sisters(i am only assuming they were jws they could have been studies or relatives of jws) walking arm and arm like a married couple.
some of the jws looked at them like they had horns.
some of the jws moms were covering their small children's eyes and those two women were stared at like they had the plague.

I know of 2 down in the Miami FL area. One was Maria H, always dressed on the "Butchie" side when not at the KH. She married an MS, their marriage lasted about 3 years, she left him for a Sister, its been 15 years now, both girls still out.
Second, an MS wife with 3 growned children gets mad at her Hubby of 25 years(J H), and decides to stay with a worldly Lesbian coworker and after one week with this mother of 3 comes out and says is now a Lesbian; Leaves the whole family and nows lives another life.

John Salvi was a Jehovah's Witness???
by confusedandalone inyesterday a gentleman came by to install some peripherals for my projector room and as he was looking for something to test the connections and picture i told him to look around in the media center for a video.
i cam out about 3 minutes later to see how things were coming and i noticed that i still had a dvd from the jehovah's witnesses.
i bent down to pick it up and as soon as i did he asked me if i was one.. i told him no, but i use to be.
